Art therapy is a therapeutic modality that uses art creation and exploration to address a variety of mental health concerns. Art therapy is conducted by trained Art Therapists who have received at least a master's degree in the correct use and impact of therapeutic art making and processing.

Grief work with Artful Grieving is anchored in Worden's Tasks of Mourning. It is further approached from the humanistic, existential, and solution-focused models. Grief is universal, but the experience and journey with grief is unique to the individual. I work to adapt and flow where you and your grief need to go.

Art therapy for grief is most successful when art making is combined with traditional counseling approaches to processing. By utilizing the Artful Grieving curriculum grief focused art creation is combined with deeper exploration for the most effective and adaptable therapeutic experience. Everyone's grief is different and I strive to address your needs by creating a custom care program tailored to you.

Grief is the result of all losses. While we typically think of grief from the death of someone we love that is not the only time a person can grieve. We can grieve a divorce, a life-altering health diagnosis, children leaving home, trauma, and many other losses. Grief counseling will help you navigate the emotional and practical needs of living after loss.

People frequently think that because they aren't "artists" or children that art therapy wouldn't be right for them. Art therapy is not an art class. There is no judgment of the art. Art therapy is using art creation for deeper insight. I like to explain it this way. I can't tell you what my grief feels like, but I can show you.
