So it begins....

“Profound loss is calling us on a journey into profound growth.

Loss and transformation go hand in hand.”

-Sarah Kerr

Here we are at the beginning of a new journey. The path in front of us isn't clear, shrouded in trees and the fog of early morning. The path is rocky, damp, dangerously beautiful. Quiet and still. Just ourselves, our thoughts, our breath, and our guides. Do you feel the electricity in the air? The dew resting on your naked body. Your bare feet on the mossy ground. Do we take this step into the unknown? Do we dare go head first into transformation knowing that when we return from the labyrinth of our souls that we will no longer be the women who are standing here now? Do we dare to be exposed, vulnerable in the hopes of being wrapped in new growth and healing? Do we leave the comfort of the known for the hope of the unknown?

I don't know where this journey will take me, but I am glad to have you coming too, holding space and bearing witness to my art, thoughts, and soul. I don't know what adventure or heart break, challenges or triumphs await us along the way, but I promise to always be present and open. I promise to share the good and the bad, the highs and the lows of my journey with grief as it winds through my life and my work. I will share honest and open reflections on the artwork that I create and the questions that arise. I will share all sides of myself: the artist, the almost art therapist, the shamanic practitioner, the feminist, the creatrix, the wild woman, the wife, the mother, the sick, and everything in between.

As is the nature of grief and change it flows and goes where it needs to when it needs to without consideration for any so-called plans we may have. This journey will be the same. We will talk about art, books, counseling, nature, creation, destruction, and any other topic that demands our attention. We will explore grief in its many forms and its many causes from many different angles and perspectives. I hope as our journey grows we can share each other's stories. We will inspire and motivate each other to keep walking when it feels like our bloodied feet can't possibly take another step. We are in this together... whatever "this" is.

So take a deep breath and take the first step with a sense of wonder and excitement. Great things await those with the eyes to see....
